Welcome to Counsellors Therapy Pot, or the Teapot as we like to call ourselves. Pull up a chair and have a cuppa!
We are a membership hub for counsellors and therapists that offers affordable counselling for counsellors. The way that we do this is that we match you with a suitable therapist who is also a member, and they counsel you. You also give an hour of your time to counsel another member. Think of it like a counselling merry-go-round!
Niamh and Beth had the idea for Counsellors Therapy Pot in 2023. Niamh had recently qualified as a counsellor and Beth, after spending years in private practice felt isolated in her role. They built their own little therapist community in a community centre café where they drank a lot of tea and wondered about a lot of things like ‘how can we build a strong, empowering therapist community?’ and ‘isn’t it a shame that we can’t counsel each other because we know each other? Massage therapists can massage their massage therapist friends but we can’t get counselling from our counselling friends. What can we do about this?’ And Counsellors Therapy Pot was born……
In the Autumn we will be launching further membership services such as peer group supervision, self-care CPD and wellbeing retreats so watch this space. Click here for membership information.
Our Ethos
We want to make it possible for counsellors and therapists to access affordable counselling. It is essential for counsellors to have good emotional and mental health to carry on working, yet we can’t even claim the tax back for our own therapy. This doesn’t seem fair, and we want to offer a solution for this.
There are also many other costs to running a private practice including insurance, professional association membership, room hire, CPD, supervision and more. We want to find ways to lessen the burden for counsellors. Over time we will offer other money saving solutions such as Peer Group Supervision.
We want to build an empowering community for counsellors and therapists whether you work in private practice or in a salaried role. We want a space where counsellors and therapists can support each other and give each other ideas.
