FAQ’s

  • Our aim is to provide you with affordable therapy by creating a platform where you can exchange skills with other qualified practitioners. Through this system, you trade one client hour to receive one client hour, fostering a collaborative and supportive community. The membership fees you contribute play a crucial role in covering the technical and administrative costs, ensuring that the therapy you receive complies with industry requirements. Looking ahead, we have exciting plans in the pipeline, including the establishment of peer supervision groups, day meet-ups, and weekend retreats across the country. Additionally, we aspire to offer continuous professional development (CPD) opportunities and taster sessions in various modalities. Our future initiatives also encompass clinical will support and programs dedicated to building financial confidence, both on a personal and professional level. Stay tuned for a journey of growth and support within our thriving community.

  • All our members are fully qualified counsellors. There are additional safeguards and legal requirements for trainees on placement that we are unable to provide at the moment. Once you are qualified, we would love to welcome you into the Counsellors Therapy Pot community.

  • If you are also qualified to work with adults, then yes as our members trade services with each other. If your qualifications cover working with minor clients only, then unfortunately not as you would be unable to trade skills.

  • Unfortunately no, even if you are qualified to practice within the UK. Each country has their own regulations and we cannot guarantee that our members would hold the necessary insurance or training requirements.

All our members have registered under a UK address.

  • The therapeutic relationship is between the counsellor and the client. The counsellor safeguards the sessions within the normal parameters of their practice.

All sessions are carried out online.

  • As part of the onboarding proces , you just need to send us evidence of membership to your governing body, and your current professional insurance.

Once matched, send us the date of your first session with both your therapist and your client.

  • While we hope to keep banked hours to a minimum, this is not always possible, especially at the beginning. Over time, we expect numbers to even out.

There may be times where banking is deliberate, such as parental leave or career breaks. In these cases, you can build up your hours until you stop working, and then continue to receive therapy uninterrupted. Our team are happy to support you through this.

  • In keeping with the idea of reducing costs, all sessions should take place online. Many people use Zoom (free/paid), Google (free) or Doxy.me (free/paid).

  • All our members have provided evidence of current membership of their respective governing body, along with full professional insurance.

All sessions are carried out under their umbrella of the therapist’s respective ethical framework.

  • All our therapists are fully qualified, are members of a governing body and have private practice insurance. We take measures to ensure you are unlikely to know your therapist and that they have the time availability you are looking for. We ask that you enter Ihe process with an open mind as all modalities have something to offer. However, if your counsellor doesn’t seem like a good fit let us know we will find you a new one.

There may come a time in the future as our membership grows, to offer a choice within reason.

  • Our aim is to match you with a therapist within two weeks. Delays can and do happen and we will stay in communication with you until you are matched.

Once matched, it is between you and your match to arrange a mutually convenient time to have your first session.

Delays can be caused by the number of enquires received or limited availability provided.

  • While we make every effort to ensure this doesn’t happen, the counselling community can be quite small especially online. If this happens, please contact us.

  • That’s fine. Not all therapists are your therapist. Simply contact us so that we can have a look at options.
